Accredited Training | Educating for Marine Sustainability: How to Move from Theory to Practice? 1st Edition – Madeira

The increasing degradation of marine ecosystems reinforces the urgency of promoting education focused on ocean sustainability. To respond to this challenge, MARE – Center for Marine and Environmental Sciences is promoting the first edition of the course “Educating for Marine Sustainability: How to Move from Theory to Practice,” taking place in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Aimed at primary and secondary school teachers, students, and other interested parties, this course combines up-to-date scientific knowledge with innovative pedagogical approaches, empowering participants to educate with a focus on conservation and sustainable use of the oceans.

With an approach that combines theory and practice, this training invites participants to deepen their understanding of the concept of sustainability as it applies to the ocean, reflecting on the impact that each of us has on marine ecosystems. Throughout the course, educational resources that can be easily integrated into teaching practice will be explored, with the aim of promoting behavioral changes in students and strengthening their commitment to ocean conservation and environmental action.

Target audience
This course is aimed at teachers and educators from primary to secondary school, secondary and higher education students, as well as anyone interested in ocean sustainability and marine conservation.
The training is accredited by the Scientific and Pedagogical Council for Continuing Education (CCPFC) and is valid for career advancement in teaching, in the scientific and pedagogical dimensions of groups 230, 420, 510, 520, and 560.
