Retired, Professor of Lisbon and Algarve Universities. PhD in Biology (Ecology and Biosystematics - University of. Lisbon), worked under the guidance of Professor Luiz Saldanha. He has participated in several projects (some as Coordinator) on ecology and dynamics of coastal lagoon systems, nature conservation and habitat management. He was Director of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa and the Nature Reserve of Sapal de Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António (Algarve, south Portugal).
