Full Professor at the Earth Sciences Dep.- University of Coimbra and a Senior Researcher of the MARE. Expertise lies mainly within alluvial stratigraphy, sedimentology and fluvial geomorphology. Published research interests include basin analysis, and more recently focusing fluvial and marine terrace sedimentary sequences. Research has typically involved the analysis of key controlling mechanisms (tectonics, climate and eustacy) and quantifying rates of change.
