We are very excited to announce the arrival of our partner MindmeUp from Greece for 3 days of training in the beautiful city of Figueira da Foz, right in the heart of summer.

Through a creative and practical approach, using gamification and active methodologies, participants will explore the fundamental principles of democracy and the responsibilities of active citizenship in today’s world.

The training will develop essential skills such as public speaking, community organizing, digital literacy, and strategic advocacy — key tools to communicate important issues, mobilize communities, and create real impact.

By strengthening these skills, the program empowers participants to lead with confidence, inspire others, and take meaningful action. At its core, this activity aims to prepare a new generation of ocean ambassadors to connect local and global efforts in support of ocean conservation and democratic engagement.

The training is free. Only 30 spots are available, with priority given to participants aged 18 to 30.

With meals and two nights of accommodation provided for the first 25 registered participants (priority to the age group 18 to 30).

What is SPLASH-EU?

SPLASH-EU is one of the two winners of the EU4Ocean Challenge of the Year 2024, themed "Be a Blue Citizen: Ocean, Citizenship, and Democracy". It stands for SuPporting a civic community of Advocacy for a healthy ocean Habitat in Europe and it aims to bridge the gap between civic engagement and marine conservation by fostering a community of empowered ocean advocates. Starting in the Coimbra region of Portugal and Thessaloniki, Greece, SPLASH-EU will develop a scalable digital platform to encourage and facilitate collective action on ocean sustainability across Europe. Through a series of community events, educational initiatives, and an ambassador training program, SPLASH-EU will create a network of engaged citizens ready to advocate for ocean health and democratic values.  Coordinated by Zara Teixeira from MARE, in collaboration with MinmeUp from Greece.
