Migratory Fish - Who are they and where do they go?
Freshwater migratory fish in Portugal will be presented, distinguishing between diadromous fish (such as shad, sea lamprey and European eel) and potamodromous fish. It addresses the main threats they face, such as river fragmentation, pollution and climate change, and highlights the importance of river connectivity for their life cycles. Mitigation solutions are presented, such as fish passages and habitat restoration, as well as ongoing management and conservation initiatives, emphasising the need for integrated and science-based action.
The Journey of Fish
Visitors are invited to discover how we can closely follow the lives of migratory fish. With the entertaining ‘The Journey of Migratory Fish,’ we can learn more about migratory fish and the dangers they face on their journey, while helping to create a better environment for fish fauna.
