On June 27, 2025 (Friday), the Final Seminar of the LIFE Águeda Project - Conservation and management actions for migratory fish in the Vouga river basin (LIFE16 ENV/PT/000411) will take place in the Salão Nobre of Águeda Town Hall.
Coordinated by the University of Évora, with technical and scientific support from MARE, the LIFE Águeda project has been implementing a set of actions since 2017 aimed at the ecological rehabilitation of the Vouga basin, with a special focus on restoring river connectivity and improving the ecological status of aquatic ecosystems, in line with the objectives of the Water Framework Directive.
With a total budget of 3.3 million euros, funded by the LIFE Program for the Environment and Climate Action, the project had the collaboration of several beneficiary partners: the Municipality of Águeda, the Municipality of Mora / Fluviário de Mora, DOCAPESCA - Portos e Lotas, S.A. and AQUALOGUS - Engenharia e Ambiente, Lda.
With just a few months to go until its conclusion on July 31, 2025, this seminar is a time to share the results, knowledge and experiences accumulated over eight years of work, as well as an opportunity to reflect on the future challenges of sustainable river management and the conservation of migratory species.
The Municipality of Águeda invites all interested parties - technicians, researchers, decision-makers, students and citizens - to take part in this meeting and learn more about the contribution of the LIFE Águeda project to the enhancement and protection of the region's water resources.
