On June 9, a public session will be held at the Óbidos Lagoon Interpretation Center to present the CaSuLO project - Between Resource Exploitation and Conservation: Paths to Sustainability in Óbidos Lagoon.
With a duration of 2 years, the CaSuLo project aims to promote dialog between local and central administration, scientists and other key players, in order to increase knowledge about the Óbidos Lagoon, in particular about the interactions between marine prairies and fishing activity.
Through this collaboration, the aim is to identify management measures to reconcile fishing with the conservation of a priority habitat. The Óbidos Lagoon is currently facing a number of socio-ecological challenges that require integrated management based on scientific knowledge. Only in this way can solutions be found that reconcile the conservation of the ecosystem and the services it provides.
Funding for the project comes from the Support for the Implementation of the Local Development Strategy of GAL OESTE COSTEIRO (MAR2030).
