Luísa Jordão distinguished at the REALP Meeting

Luísa Jordão, a researcher at MARE and PhD student in Environment and Sustainability at NOVA FCT, was awarded the Best Poster Prize at the XXV Meeting of the Network of Environmental Studies of Portuguese-speaking Countries (REALP), which took place at the University of Évora between September 2 and 6.

The award-winning work, entitled “Adaptation to Climate Change through Public Participation: Case Study of Costa da Caparica,” presents an innovative approach focused on how the active involvement of local communities can strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerability to climate risks. The study shows that strategic plans adapted to the local scale, combined with community participation, are fundamental to building “adaptation communities” that are better prepared to face the impacts of climate change.

This distinction reinforces the quality and relevance of the research carried out at MARE, highlighting the essential role of students and researchers in producing scientific knowledge focused on contemporary environmental challenges.
