Helene Adão is the new Chairperson of IAM

MARE coordinates the semiannual publication of the association's newsletter.

A “small world”, but of recognized value, has been the meiofauna world, with a determining role on the functioning of aquatic ecosystems, particularly on estuarine and marine ecosystems. Following the election of researcher Helena Adão to be the Chairperson of the International Association of Meiobenthologists (IAM), MARE was responsible for the semiannual publication of the association's Newsletter, Psammonalia, dedicated to the diffusion of conferences, courses, workshops and scientific news about meiofauna.

This publication aims to strengthen communication between members of the association and others interested in this field of knowledge. This is number 171 of the Newsletter published for the first time in 1966.

Notice that MARE organized in 2019 the 17th edition of the International Conference on Meiofauna, a prestigious international scientific meeting where excellent research work developed at MARE, on the pole of the University of Évora was recognized, both in estuarine sediments and in deeper marine sediments.
