Luís Alves has an Msc in Aplied Biotechnology and is a biology PhD candidate at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa. His research is conducted in Lemos Lab (Politécnico de Leiria), focusing on the study of the effects of pollution in sharks found in Portuguese waters. He is the current president of the Portuguese Association for the Study and Conservation of Elasmobranchs (APECE).
