Abstract:

This project aims to study the mechanisms underlying the toxicity of endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs), molecules that interfere with the synthesis, secretion, transport, action or elimination of hormones of an organism, affecting its homeostasis, reproduction, development, behavior, immunity and neurology. Through an ecotoxicological approach and modern molecular methodologies, such as proteome analysis, the international and multidisciplinary team aims to elucidate the complexity of the molecular interactions that culminate in these individual and population effects, focusing on aquatic organisms in order to assess the impact EDCs can cause in individuals, populations and ecosystems.
